Bio: Rebecca Hewitt-Newson (she/her) is Co-Pastor at Emmaus Way, an ecumenical and creative community of faith in Durham, NC. In this capacity, you’ll find her leading dialogues on topics like death, sex, and capitalism; facilitating the involvement of children and adults in impromptu pageants; and gathering around the Open Table where all are invited to experience grace and liberation. Before coming to Emmaus Way, she completed her M.Div at Wake Forest University School of Divinity, worked as a Board Certified Chaplain in Catholic healthcare, and served as a children’s minister. She occasionally writes about mental health and faith and has spent the past few years helping facilitate the growth of Pastors for NC Children, a public education advocacy organization. Her favorite thing ever is the alchemy that takes place when personal insight about our own suffering transforms into desire to work toward a better world for everyone.
