Bio: Melanie Lynn Griffin is a faith-based environmental writer, speaker, and community organizer who lives in both suburban Maryland and rural New Hampshire. She was a long-time lobbyist for the Sierra Club and then directed their national outreach program to engage faith communities in “creation care.” She served for three years as a pastor at Cedar Ridge Community Church in Spencerville, Maryland and enjoys leading contemplative retreats and writing workshops. She holds a Certificate in Spiritual Direction from the National Cathedral and a Masters in Creative Nonfiction from Johns Hopkins University. Melanie now works at Third Act, organizing older Americans to protect our climate and our democracy. In her forty-plus years of advocacy, community organizing, and pastoral work, she has learned the power of stories to heal, connect, and move people to action. She helps others find themselves in the climate story and is at work on her own spiritual memoir, The Soul of a Lobbyist.
