Planting Love Letters

You are viewing a previous festival year: 2024
Description: Dear Wild Goose, When did you last write a letter? To whom did you write it? What did your letter express? Love? Fear? Outrage? Our workshops centers letter writing, which we have used to effect social change and justice. But letter writing also connects us to loved ones both living and departed, human and non-human. By writing letters we can direct our desire for worlds of greater abundance, equity, and beauty in healthy, loving directions. During the festival we will ask our fellow participants to be part of a letter writing journey. We will collectively write letters to our ancestors, loved ones, or to the earth. This method comes from eco feminist and intersectional feminist efforts of social justice. We will invite workshop participants to write letters on paper made from seeds and then communally plant our letter in soil. The creative writing of letters and active conscientization is a form of art that includes reflection, grief, love, community, and activism. We are eager to share past letter-writing experiences and join in a creative letter-writing experience together. Love, Kacie and Joe
