Doing Your Authentic Life: Radical Surrender, Standing Naked before the Universe

You are viewing a previous festival year: 2024
Venue: Terra
Description: Becoming your authentic self is your life work. It takes immense courage to risk that journey, shedding the pressure of what others expect. Once awakened to the call, you may feel that the cost of proceeding is impossible; it asks too much. But the price of failing to surrender is your authentic Self – depriving yourself and the Universe of the unique gift of you. Paula and Michael will summarize their experiences in conversational format. o Paula Stone Williams was a highly respected and sought-after preacher, teacher, editor, and head of a large church planting agency. She risked everything and lost much when she decided to live openly and authentically and transitioned from Paul to Paula. She has become an internationally known TED speaker on gender equity, an elected official, and a pastoral counselor, but her path has been anything but easy. o Michael Smith’s journey has been far less dramatic. Yet he has found how intensely painful, disruptive and life-giving it is to abandon the persona and expectations that shaped his life and surrender to the path of deeper knowing and living. - Participants, clustered in small groups will share their stories and struggles and learn from one another. - In a moderated closing session, participants will share their observations and questions
