Learn the benefits of Contemplative Writing by experiencing it in a supportive group.
Contemplative writing is a practice of detaching from ourselves and opening up to divine revelation by writing in a new, unplanned way. The practice requires no formal writing experience and is open to participants of various backgrounds/experiences with writing. We gather in a group. Facilitators offer prompts that will move us out of our habitual perspective so we can experience the impact of the practice on ourselves and each other.
As we write silently together, the prompts teach us to let go of the way we have always written; allow us to release control of the writing that emerges; drill inward so that we can move outward to connect with the world; and reveal connections we didn’t see before.
Together, we create the stillness in active listening that lets wisdom rise. We teach each other not to fear epiphany; respect the wisdom of all; and allow for silence. As members voluntarily choose to share (or not share) their work, we witness the emergence of community wisdom, gratitude, and compassion.
