Description: Christianity has a hell problem. When I tell people that I don't believe in hell, many people immediately ask, well then why be a Christian at all? Or maybe, if there's no hell, why did Jesus come? Why did Jesus die? Why does any of it matter? For many people, all of Christian spirituality hinges on punishment. When I uprooted hell from my faith, I realized that I needed to rebuild a foundation of love and connection, and rediscover Christianity as a pathway for spiritual transformation that has nothing to do with avoiding a punishing God.
In this talk, I will share my story, and how hell, fear, and punishment robbed me of a transformative spirituality, and discuss how I now connect with an all-loving, never-punishing God.
