Songs In The Key Of Resistance for Gaza

You are viewing a previous festival year: 2024
Description: From the movement to end slavery to Civil Rights marches to labor union strikes and global movements of resistance including #CeasefireNOW, music has been central to not only spread the message of the movement but also to build resilience. Music has the power to touch our hearts, connecting us to each other and our struggles in a way that words alone sometimes can’t. Art and culture give us a way to join. To remember. To affirm. To honor. To rage. To celebrate. To practice new ways of being in relationship with one another and the earth. To envision and create a world that is just and habitable for future generations. Hosted by the We Cry Justice Arts Collective of the Kairos Center and the Freedom Church of the Poor,* Songs in the Key of Resistance (SKOR) is a cross-movement space for artists, organizers, community and faith leaders to come together to create community through singing and support each other as we work for justice. In this space we will learn songs and chants to share in movement spaces, at demonstrations and direct actions, tell our stories of hope and resistance, and create the world we know is possible.
