Description: After 13 years of marriage, Terri came out to Brent. The challenges of trying to change and/or manage her sexuality caused increasing hardship as years went by, including depression. Seeking help and doing the critical work needed guided by her therapist, Terri came to accept and love herself as she was created and was able to move into an authentic space, inviting Brent to be there with her.
Terri and Brent love each other dearly and have now been married 37 years. They are best friends and are committed to making their mixed-orientation marriage work. Together they have done the work that is allowing them to be successful in this endeavor. They hope sharing their “brutiful” journey will encourage others who find themselves on the same path or similar journeys to continue to move forward together, and also facilitate more acceptance for those who aren’t in this situation, but perhaps know others who are. Love is love is love.
