Can church be fully online?

Description: When Covid hit the world, many churches pivoted to streaming their services online. Some continue to offer a hybrid worship experience with both in-person and digital venues. These types of streaming/hybrid models rely on the main church event happening at one location and being broadcast out to people in other places. But what about a faith community that is completely non-localized? Can a church exist with no church building or physical space at all—just folks with laptop screens, tablets, or smartphones scattered around the world? Join Jon Mathieu, founder of a fully online church that is three years old and going strong, for a discussion about the joys, limitations, and reasons for building spiritual community online. You may be inspired to check out a digital church, or if you’re already happily connected to a local congregation, you might find ideas to help create supplemental online spaces.
