Time: Fri 11:00AM
Venue: Science Tent
Style: Experiential
Content Type: Interactive journey into ecochaplaincy
Description: Ecochaplaincy is an emergent evolution of chaplaincy in response to our hunger and need for interconnection, healing, and regeneration. Ecochaplaincy takes a myriad of forms bound together by a lens of spiritual care that acknowledges and upholds respectful, loving, and reciprocal relationships. As a spiritual care provider, an ecochaplain may:
• Give voice to Earth as a complex living organism of which we are apart,
• Accompany people in rediscovering and nurturing relationship with the web of life,
• Stand with communities affected by the upheaval of climate change,
• Explore interconnections between our individual and collective experience,
• Create space for people experience grief and move toward active hope,
• Carry ecotheology into chaplaincy spaces.
This experiential journey will guide participants into the essence of interconnection with fellow travelers (elemental, human, more than human) on the living Earth. Inspired by the spiral process of The Work That Reconnects, participants will reflect on, give voice to, and dance into four stages of discovery: gratitude, honoring our pain for the world, seeing with new eyes, and going forth. We will take a somatic and spiritual journey to open to the beauty of accompaniment, stepping away from the dissonant Anthropocene and into the Symbiocene.
