But ________ Loves You

Description: When I shared examples with people of how my mother abused me, they would say “But your mother loves you.” When I shared my sexual orientation with my church, they said “we love you, but …” and then removed me from the stage. Subsequently, I spent years living inside the idea of “but I don't love me.” As a psychotherapist and teaching pastor who has been sober for 29 years and married to a woman, I know God loves me even though I cannot look at social media or talk to people without someone bringing up a “but” about God's Love for me. This workshop will be informative and interactive as we will look through the lens of transpersonal psychology and neuroscience at our shame identity. And slowly repair and restore our connection to self and God by sharing and knowing our coherent narrative.
